Anxious Ryan
Higher. Inner. Peace – Helping. Other. People. This acronym for hip hop represents not only what the music should be about, but it represents me, Anxious Baby. I live my life on this very principle, and I believe strongly in having my story told.
Denver is not the largest hip-hop hot bed in the country, but I think the best thing to do in the hip-hop industry in Denver is the same as everywhere else; and that is, work hard. If there are any other artists who are considering an approach to the industry, I would say working hard is the best thing you can do. By working hard, I mean produce albums, records, and mix tapes. Also get on blogs, increase your Internet presence, book tours and travel to get your music out, record music videos and other videos for YouTube, find other artists to work with, make songs and do shows with them. Also, always respect other artists because we have similar dreams, and we can relate to each other’s ambitions. Music is my passion and it guides me in all areas of my life. That is why I have a thirst for success, and having my story told.
My name is Anxious; I am a hip-hop artist from Denver. A few months ago, I won first place in an Atlanta hip-hop competition, and I am going to be featured in the next issue of the Source Magazine. My team and I perform regularly at many large venues in Denver, including Herman’s Hideaway, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, the Gothic Theater, the Bluebird Theater, and many others. I have a large Internet presence as well. I have performed for Rev Run, Mobb Deep, the Flobots, the Alchemist, Talib Kweli, the owner of the Source Magazine and many others.
While in Atlanta, I shook T.I.‘s hand and that was a dream come true for me. He has been an inspiration for me throughout my journey. I released an album in June 2012, entitled Anxious on the Rise, and the album released prior to that, Almost Famous, in June 2011. Both albums, and a mix tape entitled Spittin Fire (released January 2011) can be found on iTunes, CDBaby, napster, iHeart Radio, and many other music- purchasing sites. I have been featured in the Denver Post and the Denver Westword newspapers. I have won first place in almost every competition I have entered including the Rev Run contest and the Illegal Pete’s 15th Anniversary Party freestyle battle. Prizes included several thousand dollars in cash as well as meeting with Rev Run himself. My latest success and competition victory prizes include, an article in The Source Magazine as well as several Internet and press blasts.
I have also begun speaking with labels including Interscope Records, Konvict Muzik, and some others. A man with the title of VP of Promotions at Interscope Records, who toured with Lady Gaga for six weeks before she blew up, began speaking with me when we met in Atlanta. He and I are currently talking about the possibility of him being my personal consultant. He lives in LA, which I visited over the summer, and where I recorded a song with a guy who won a Grammy Award for his sound production in the movie “Chernobyl Diaries.” His most recent project is the latest Quentin Tarantino film that just hit theaters about a month ago entitled “The Man With The Iron Fists.”
