All Trap Music Review

If you haven’t heard the infectious beats or felt the high-energy appeal of trap music yet, especially living in Denver, well, get ready. As this new brand of bastardized EDM hits the scene, American club kids are dropping it like it’s hot everywhere from nightclubs to basements. And with the recent “Harlem Shake” phenomenon, it seems that everyone, including your parents, are shaking their asses in delight. The amazing thing is, “trap music” isn’t even something entirely new. Many of us remember rap artists like T.I. and Lil Flip snapping the snares long ago, with the same sounds, though slightly different results. The trap phenomenon has taken off, similar to the dubstep explosion in the states a few years back, ushering in tons of new artists and evolving the sound to its current, lets just say, “aggressive” state. With the rise of trap, there has been a number of producers, old and new, that have capitalized on the sound, taking elements of dubstep and trance and mashing them into traditional hip-hop beats and samples, resulting in the ultra dance-floor friendly beats we have recently been hearing all over Denver and beyond.

With heavy hitters like Baauer and RL Grime (formerly Clockwork) leading the way for a young breed of new producers, plenty of attention is being paid to where this scene will head next. We got our hands on the latest release from All Trap Music, a compilation that features some of the hottest names in the genre, and with it, you get some of the hardest hitting tracks to come out yet, sprinkled with popular cuts such as “Dum Dum” by Baauer and the aptly titled “Spooky” by Bro Safari and DJ Craze. This release represents some of the latest sounds in the constantly-evolving genre, and it gives some insight into what trap music is to the new fans of the genre, a group of listeners that is steadily growing in the EDM hotspots of America, particularly places like Denver and Los Angeles.

Most of these tracks have been blowing up dance floors for almost a year now, and though most DJs would remind you that there are plenty of new tracks out there by now, I think this release represents the first wave of “classics” from this genre, and is a great crash course for anyone just getting into the genre. With tunes from the likes of Flosstradamus, 12^th Planet, and Luminox, All Trap Music is loaded with anthems, and is a must-have for any house party or iPod rotation! Turn up!!
