Disco is alive atThe Aurora Fox with the Regional Premiere of XANADU – the hitmusical comedy (directed by Ben Dicke, with Music Direction by DavidNehls, choreography by Piper Arpan) from March 2 through April 1, 2012at the Aurora Fox (9900 East Colfax, Aurora, CO 80010). Believein the magic again! Xanadu follows the journey of a magical andbeautiful Greek muse, Kira (Amy Board), who descends from the heavensof Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest toinspire a struggling artist, Sonny (Andrew Diessner), to achieve thegreatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO…hey,it’s 1980! But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortalSonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation and chaosabounds. In 2007, this quirky musical which pokes gentle fun atthe cult movie, took New York by storm, earning 4 Tony nominationsincluding “Best Musical”. In addition to songs performed in the1980 movie by Olivia Newton-John (“Magic,” the romantic title track),the musical includes classic tunes by the production’s songwriter,Jeff Lynne, and Electric Light Orchestra, most notably a wacky versionof “Strange Magic” and a funky take on “All Over the World.” Limited onstage couch seating is available for every performance.Those seats must be reserved by telephone: 303-739-1970.
