Breathe Carolina’s Hit Single “Blackout” Certified Gold
Band Inks Deal with Columbia Records as Single Climbs to #18 on the Top 40 Chart &Announces April Co-Headlining Tour With The Ready Set and Ashland High Opening New York, NY – Denver’s Breathe Carolina – David Schmitt and Kyle Even – are enjoying continued success with their third full-length studio album Hell Is What You Make It as the first single “Blackout” climbs to #18 on the Top 40 Chart and was certified gold last week. Originally released by Fearless Records in July 2011, the band inked a deal with Columbia Records in December 2011 and is set to hit the road on a co-headlining tour of the US in April with The Ready Set and Ashland High opening. Hell Is What You Make It is only the latest chapter in Breathe Carolina’s story. Schmitt and Even started making music together in 2007 after their earlier bands broke up and they found themselves housemates in the suburbs of Denver. After setting up a MySpace page and gaining a bit of notoriety, they signed to Rise Records to release their debut album It’s Classy, Not Classic (September 2008). This led to a year of non-stop touring and a new deal with Fearless Records for their sophomore album Hello Fascination. Released August 18th, 2009, the album debuted at #43 on the Billboard 200. In early 2011, the band began recording Hell Is What You Make It with producer Ian Kirkpatrick (Neon Trees, Plain White T’s). Prior to the July 12th, 2011 release of Hell Is What You Make It, Breathe Carolina made their Late Night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on June 16th, 2011 when they performed “Blackout,” the first single from new album. While the single started climbing the radio charts, the band hit the road for a headlining tour of the US that kept them out for the entire summer. In September 2011, Jon Caramanica at the New York Times included the album in his “Playlist” column writing, “…it’s one of the year’s best pure pop albums” and this past December Brian Mansfield at USA Today featured them in an “On The Verge” piece. Today VEVO will premiere a live performance of Breathe Carolina’s hit single “Blackout” filmed at their sold-out LA Troubadour show (click here to check it out: smarturl.it/blackoutlive) with more performances from the concert to launch in the weeks ahead. In addition, dates will be announced shortly for Breathe Carolina’s April co-headlining tour with The Ready Set and Ashland High opening.
