Denver Shout Out 2012 Rocks Hi-Dive
by Darnell Teague
The Denver Show Out 2012 the first event Hosted by DJ 5280, brought together some of Colorado’s up and coming record labels, and artist. Each act brought its own uniqueness of music to this event. We also note that the event had some very noticeable absences from the event lineup. One Label shows up for the event then leaves before they where called to the stage, Maybe they had something better to do then build on their event and performance credits. Now let’s speak about the Artist that did grace the stage.
We start with the first artist to grace the stage Albeez 4 Sheez and A-Co records. Show casing his new song from the Looney and Friends compilation (Coming Soon) the A-Co Hyphy movement had the crowd moving up, down, and side to side, like hydraulics on an old school Chevy. Lady Lo Key the female Gangsta of A-Co Records brought the male audience to attention not only with her aggressive crunk style of rhymes; but also with her Coke Bottle figure and as she describes herself with a “Bubble Gum Booty” as they looked on with stunning amazement as she show cased her for sure lyrical skills, that had a similar feel to Eve when she first started. Be sure to look for great things to come with A-Co Records and the entire artist roster they show case.
The second artist to be showcased goes by the name Tyler Jerome Record label affiliation unknown, Tyler Jerome has a unique under ground sound similar and comparison to the great Underground Artist Big K.R.I.T. with a slow tempo style of music mixed with heavy samples. Tyler Jerome also doubles as a Rapper/Singer so when you catch his stage performances you get a taste of both worlds delivered with a “Swagger” and a two step that Rivals T.I. we also got a chance to grab his Promotional Project 22 Days and 22 Nights the project is very impressive with the lyrical skills and content of music and overall sound.
The Ying and Yang duo of Taj & Profound presented the crowd with a blend of music between Reggae, Hip-Hop, and Club Music. Taj also mixed in with his performance some Reggae Melodies, Even though we had a hard time hearing Taj’s vocals over the beats. A little more work on his stage presences and projection of his vocals and they could be a Duo that could fit into the Medical Marijuana Lifestyle that Colorado’s famous for.
IMAN S. of No Halftime Entertainment opens up his set with a noticeable production sound by Sellsbeats fashioned around the vocals of the ParkHill native has placed himself in a different class when it comes to his music. From the lyrical content mixed with a business mind frame, street smarts and swagger displayed on stage. IMAN S. has quickly become more then your average artist based in Denver, Colorado. We also anticipate the newest project from IMAN S. as he performed some newly recorded music that insures a strong 2013 from IMAN S.
Last but not least we have AMGLyfe (Absolute Music Group) that starts their set with the bold statement made by one of their entourage members “AMGLyfe the Only Real Record Label in Denver” got a few other labels in their feelings about the statement but was easily backed up by their music, with their up tempo sound, High Energy beats lead by their front man Colorado Myrical. AMGLyfe also showcased a well know artist by the name of L Keys who has been ripping tracks and stages since I ran across his music back when he was 18 years old. Is AMGLyfe the best we don’t know that yet but they are for sure on the rise.
