Dirty Femmes are back, and opening for the Real L Words Hunter Valentine. We know it’s a Tuesday, but hey, pretend it’s the ‘80s ladies, and come tear it up with us! Should we make this a costume party?

Jen Korte first had the idea to start the Dirty Femmes five years ago, but quickly realized she didn’t have the chops or the musicians she needed to pull it off. So she put the idea on the back burner for some day when she knew it would be the right time. Finding out that 2012 was the 30-year anniversary of the recording of the platinum debut album, Violent Femmes, she knew the time was now. Jen quickly set out to find a rhythm section that could handle the audacity of Brian Ritchie‘s well-known bass playing style and the complicated sounds of Victor DeLorenzo‘s minimalist drum kit. Now enter Neil Mitchell and Andy Bercaw who back her with the same truculent musical styling that the Violent Femmes possess. The Dirty Femmes pay tribute to the original Violent Femmes debut album in its entirety, along with the bonus tracks and a few songs off the second album, Hallowed Ground.
The Dirty Femmes premiered on April 7th, at the Hi Dive Denver, and was met with an overwhelming response from Violent Femmes fans and the press.
