Fort Collins, CO (3/28/2014)  – The Fort Collins Musicians Association (FoCoMA) announced lineups for all remaining Fort Collins Music eXperiment (FoCoMX) venues this week, including newly announced DJ lineups at Luscious Nectar, and filling in more details on expanded family programming at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. Discounted festival wristbands are on sale for $20 through April 11 (when they increase to $30).

FoCoMX, presented by FoCoMA and sponsored by Odell Brewing Company, provides an extensive variety of Northern Colorado-only bands, solo performers, DJs, and other artists.

Noteworthy performances during FoCoMX 6 include:  FRIDAY: A “local legends” showcase at Avogadro’s Number that includes Liz Barnez, Cary Morin (of the Atoll), and the Three Twins (featuring members of the Subdudes); Arliss Nancy; Danielle Ate the Sandwich; Fierce Bad Rabbit; The CD release party for In the Whale’s EP, Nate; The Patti Fiasco; Shatterproof;  The Yawpers. SATURDAY: 12 Cents for Marvin, DJ Alf’s  45+1 showcase,  Endless Monster (featuring Karl Alvarez of the Descendents), Futaba (farewell show), Good Gravy, Grant Farm, Johnny Hickman of Cracker with Jason Downing of Musketeer Gripweed, Qbala, Samuel Mouton (featured in Season 3 of TV’s The Voice), and Widow’s Bane.

Year six of the event has been streamlined to be a walking festival, focusing on the Old Town Fort Collins area. This South-by-Southwest-style event is sponsored by area businesses and hosted by 20 of Old Town’s best music venues, casual dining restaurants, bars, craft breweries and culture spots, giving attendees ample choice and a rain-or-shine entertainment guarantee.

In its effort to be increasingly community-inclusive, FoCoMX 6 will include expanded daytime and family-friendly programming. The addition of Fort Collins Museum of Discovery as a venue gives youth and other local acts a chance to perform in an educational, alcohol-free environment. Due to a generous partnership with the museum, museum showcase attendees will be able to view exhibits and see the 360-degree dome theater with their FoCoMX wristbands (without having to pay the usual admission charge). Saturday’s museum lineup includes artists from the Rising Artist’s Mentorship Program (RAMP), featuring musicians as young as age ten. Volunteer and sponsorship support have also allowed the return of the festival’s only free segment, the first four acts on Saturday at Everyday Joe’s coffee house: Colorado Swing Big Band, the Blue Canyon Boys (the winning band at 2008’s Telluride Bluegrass Festival), Mr. Marty’s preschool education program, and Jason Downing’s interactive music education program for kids. Wristbands are required at all other FoCoMX events.

Saturday’s ProDev educational panels will also return this year, featuring entertainment lawyer Ken Abdo. These panels are free of charge to working Northern Colorado musicians.

“The Biggest Little Festival in America” started in 2009 as a grassroots experiment in promoting local music. The festival has grown, with an attendance of over 5000 in 2013. Presented by the nonprofit Fort Collins Musicians Association (FoCoMA), FoCoMX furthers their mission to provide education, support, and networking opportunities for the Fort Collins and greater northern Colorado music community.

FoCoMA works hard to support both new and established artists in the area. Emerging artists are often placed next to locally and nationally recognized acts, giving them exposure to new audiences. The organization also gives 80% of the net income of the festival back to the artists. The full lineup, volunteer information, ticketing and more are available at focomx.org.
