Gregory Alan Isakov Announces 2015 Headline Tour
Gregory Alan Isakov will embark on an extensive nationwide headlining tour starting in January, including shows at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre. See below for complete details.
In advance of the tour, the official music video for Isakov’s song “Amsterdam” recently premiered at NPR Music and can now be viewed/embedded here. Additionally, Isakov recently covered Bruce Springsteen’s “Highway 29” during an “Esquire Live Session.” Of his rendition of the song, Esquire praises, “brilliant…when you listen to Isakov’s music, it’s instantly clear that he’s got a gift similar to The Boss. His most recent album, The Weatherman, is straightforward and pure, and manages to reveal the beauty in otherwise ‘everyday’ moments. It’s extremely well-crafted, without the slightest hint of pretentiousness. It’s humble, much in the way Isakov is himself, but full of powerful storytelling.”
The tour celebrates Isakov’s highly acclaimed album, The Weatherman (Suitcase Town Music), which debuted at #1 on iTunes’ Singer/Songwriter chart, #5 on Billboard’s Folk chart, and #1 on Billboard’s Mountain and Pacific Heatseekers charts. Additionally, of the music, Denver Westword proclaims, “Bob Dylan once sang, ‘You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows,’ and you don’t need to be a singer-songwriter to realize that Isakov has created something truly stunning here.”
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and now calling Colorado home, Isakov is a lifelong traveler. Since his debut, Isakov has performed in collaboration with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and has toured alongside musicians such as Iron & Wine, Josh Ritter, Ani DiFranco, Brandi Carlile, The Lumineers and Blind Pilot. With a degree in horticulture, Isakov balances the art of making and performing his music with running a small farm in Colorado.
