Monroe Monroe-Interiors EP Review

Monroe Monroe’s latest release, Interiors, has that unapologetic and sincere in-your-face feel that fans have come to know and love. Each track is strong, and each track gives you something different. “All These Things,” which is their Hometown for the Holidays entry, starts with a striking guitar riff, followed by Abbatecola’s lamenting vocals. The chorus, “I need these thrills and pills and everything you give, I wanna be right here to the end, I swear,” will have you performing your own car concert. “The Salesman” eases in with an orchestral hum before the guitar and vocals pick up. Throughout the track, there is a soothing, repetitive bongo beat that offers comfort in the angsty lyrics. And check out “Sleepy Rose,” which hits you with vocals at the start, and transports you into its desperate ride as you willingly scream along.

It used to be ‘easy’ to compare Monroe Monroe’s sound to other bands, and I mean that in a complimentary way. But soon, people will be saying, “Hey, Band XYZ sounds like Monroe Monroe.” Believe it. And check out their EP release party on Dec. 8 at the Hi Dive with My Body Sings Electric, Common Anomaly, and Swing Hero.
