Rae Miller‘s self produced debut album, Journey Through Water, is a wonderfully crafted slice of Americana. With lucid melodies and dreamy harmonies, the passionate story telling is meant for a porch swing on a cool and sweet summer evening, or a meandering drive through desolate mountain roads. Journey Through Water is a poetic daydream, interweaving themes of heartfelt sorrow, somber heartbreak and introspective transcendence.

Miller’s lovely songbird voice and raw emotion shine in “Rain,” her spellbound vocals perfectly capture the bittersweet aching of failed love. “Whatever Happens” is gorgeously serene, laced with a mandolin that leaves the listener lost in thought searching for the keys of existence. The upbeat and tangy “Ordinary Love” lends the atmosphere of a smoke filled jazz club.

“Stream” paints the picture of a wandering soul reflectively searching as the smooth trumpet guides her endeavors. It is paired flawlessly, followed by the hope inspiring hypnotic narrative “Desert Trip.”  “Rodeo” is a classic coming of age tale of an incessant wanderer. Miller showcases her talents and beautiful translucent blend of folk, blues, and Americana, with Journey Through Water.
