Something Underground- Confessions
by Tim Wenger
We’ve been anxiously waiting for new tunes from Something Underground for quite some time, and our craving has finally been quelled with the release of Confessions. The band, gaining a good amount of momentum in the vast rock world surrounding the Mile High City, has delivered a release well worth waiting for- an EP chock full of catchy vocal patterns and eloquent musical work highlighted by the Larson brothers’ tag-team efforts on vocals and strings that amount to what is undeniably the most original sound coming out of Denver’s alternative scene right now.
Something Underground isn’t afraid to slow it down, letting their music and the emotions that follow do the talking as the vocals of both Seth and Josh sooth the listener’s mind with cavernously deep vocals and solid harmonies. Confessions is the perfect closing chapter to a year that saw so many of Denver’s leading groups drop solid new releases. Three cheers for Josh, Seth, and drummer Trevor Mariotti. Hopefully, 2014 will see them hitting the road and share the love with as many people as possible.
