Mark Vann almost single-handedly made the banjo cool again, and re-introduced its versatility to a new generation of young music lovers while with Leftover Salmon, before going big onto heaven’s stage in 2002. Shimmer N Shine with Great American Taxi (new album Paradise Lost to be reviewed Jan. 2012 CMB, featuring Mark’s longtime friend and bandmate in Leftover Salmon, Vince Herman); The Contribution (featuring Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth, Keith Moseley of Sting Cheese Incident, Matt Butler of Everyone Orchestra, and Sheryl Renee, Jeff Miller, & Phil Ferlino of New Monsoon); Bill McKay Band (Leftover Salmon, Band du Jour); Andrew McConathy and the Drunken Hearts; and The Banjorchestra; plus every year some of Mark’s old friends show up, ensuring spectacular unannounced guests! Poster art by J Rizzi (DayOKnight.com). Light up with something sparkly, and help raise funds and awareness for two great non-profits.
