Monday April 21
Root 40 Launch Party at the Sie Film Center (aka Denver Film Center) 2510 E. Colfax Ave
Doors at 7pm – This event is open to the public – first come, first served
CU Denver Music presents Kevin Lyman – founder of the Vans Warped Tour – North America’s longest running tour. He will do a presentation on “The Art of the Traveling Festival”.
Chris Daniels will moderate and there will be a Q&A following the presentation
At this event, there will be the first “Base- Camp Check in” for FREE Swag and Limited Quantity Drink Discount Wristbands. The first 1000 attendees that check in at a base-camp throughout the week receive a wristband that gives them $1 off regularly priced drinks at all Root 40 venues! ** Additional Base Camps listed at end of release
This night will also be the launch of the Fest’s Deep Eddy Vodka Cocktail Contest. All Root 40 bars and venues will create a signature Deep Eddy Vodka Cocktail. Attendees will vote for their favorite.
There will be a reception following the presentation in the Henderson lounge (lobby of the Sie)
Tuesday April 22
At CU Denver: The King Center Recital Hall 12:30pm – 1:45pm
Music Law Essentials for Artists: Colorado entertainment law specialists – Steve Erwin, Amber McClain and Dave Ratner will speak on issues related to young musicians in the Colorado and national music scenes. Moderator: Professor Stan Soocher
At CU Denver: The King Center Recital Hall 2:00pm – 3:15pm
Record Labels, Managers and Recorded Music: Panelists include JJ Italiano who is a manager, producer and major label veteran. Italiano got his start managing the Flobots, who rose to alt-stardom with “Handlebars” and then signed a major label deal. After parting ways with them, he managed I Fight Dragons and MC Lars, among others, and also worked at Universal Music Group on the Gotye album. Ken Crawford, former VP at MCA and Warner Brothers Records and Virgil Dickerson from Denver’s Suburban Home records who also runs Illegal Pete’s record label. Moderator: Andy Guerrero
