Wallpaper Talks About Tour and Life, Plays Denver w/ Dirty Heads 11/8

CMB: I know this is informal, and I hate to jump right in, but I have to ask: What’s with the Wallpaper. ? The “dot” throws me off. What’s the significance, if any?

Wallpaper: Wallpaper. is not just a passive word or idea. It’s a statement. Like most statements, sentences, etc, it ends with a period.

CMB: Until today, I was not familiar with you guys. I checked out “#STUPiDFACEDD,” “T-Rex,” and “Taco Bell/Pizza Hut” and got into them. Do I dare ask if there are any specific inspirations for “#STUPiDFACEDD”? (Unfortunately, it looks like many parties I’ve been to!)

I can’t mention any specific inspirations haha. I will say that “#STUPiDFACEDD” is a very specific state of mind though. That special, perfect moment before you black out, pass out, whatever, where everything is right in the world. All your friends move in slow motion and you are free to act a fool.

CMB: The Denver show, on the 8th, will be your sixth with the Dirty Heads on this tour. How’s it going so far? Did you know the Dirty Heads before this tour?

Wallpaper: Tour is goin’ great so far! We didn’t know them before, but now we are already close friends. Like a week in! We had an Afro Cuban dance off at a club near the venue in Chicago a few days ago. The rest is history.

CMB: Have you played in Denver before? If so, what is your favorite venue here?

Wallpaper: Yes we have. I love Summit Music Hall! Played there last time we were in town with AWOLNATION. Rad!

CMB: What is a typical crowd like at your shows? What can we expect?

Wallpaper: Damn, our crowd is hard to pin down. People from all walks of life, usually college-ish age but def not limited to that. People at our shows are prepared to get down and make new friends. Like I say in the song “FUCKING BEST SONG EVERRR,” people make new best friends at our shows.

CMB: There’s not a lot of background info on you guys. Can you tell us a little history? How long have you been together? What types of venues do you usually play, when not touring? How’d you come up with the name? Did you know there is another band named Wallpaper out there? Is that why you have the . after?

Wallpaper: Columbus was not cool as they say he was. 3 years-ish. Theaters, clubs and houseparties. Modern pop music is Wallpaper., I’m tryina change that. Yes. No.

With two drummers to his back, and a spunky back-up singer by his side, Wallpaper.‘s frontman, Ricky Reed, played a beat-heavy show at the Ogden. There wasn’t a moment of downtime in the set, as all members brought a formidable force of thumping energy to the highly-charged crowd. The show ended with “FUCKING BEST SONG EVERRR” and “STUPiDFACEDD,” and had everyone wanting more.
